Sweden’s Omar Eljach, the winner of the 2022 World Series of Poker Europe main event, earned the second WSOP bracelet of his career on Tuesday by triumphing in the 2023 WSOP Europe‘s Event #2, €550 Pot Limit Omaha 8-Max.
Eljach, whose full name is Omar Francisco Eljach Huang, is a native of Stockholm who’s made a meteoric rise in the poker world since beginning as a participant in private poker games in Sweden last decade. His latest win was worth €65,900, giving him about $2.2 million in career live-tournament winnings and making him Sweden’s 15th-ranked all-time earner in that category.
Eljach tops Volcovschi for bracelet win
The 33-year-old Eljach secured the win by eliminating Portugal’s Diana Volcovschi, who earned €40,700 as the runner-up in the best finish of her live career. Third place went to record-extending WSOP grinder Roland Israelashvili, the American who has now cashed in 459 WSOP bracelet or Circuit ring events around the world.
Eljach emerged from a 719-entry field to secure the win, which was based on 414 unique players who also added 305 re-entries. The event produced a €341,925 prize pool, and the top 109 finishers made the money.
