Popular YouTuber and streamer Fousey made his official comeback to social media after a prolonged absence.
Fousey, whose real name is Yousef Saleh Erakat, had been noticeably absent from the platform since August 23, 2023, when he was hospitalized after phoning the police during a live stream, claiming he and his family were being threatened.
The incident, which occurred following a series of troubling occurrences, including altercations with other creators and being swatted by viewers, led to Fousey’s hospitalization and subsequent silence on social media.
However, on November 6, 2023, he reappeared on the streaming scene during a surprise broadcast on fellow streamer Adin Ross’s channel.
During the comeback stream, Adin Ross presented Fousey with what appeared to be a new streaming contract with Kick, a popular streaming platform with ties to crypto gambling website Stake.com.
This development came after Fousey had previously announced signing a deal with Kick on August 12, just weeks before his hospitalization.
However, doubts arose among fans about the status of his contract after a phone call Fousey took during one of his live streams shortly after the announcement.
While it remains unclear whether the new Kick deal presented during the stream was genuine or a playful prank, Fousey’s channel still bears a verified mark, indicating a positive standing with Kick. Fousey himself mentioned that he would finalize the new agreement after consulting with his legal team.
Fousey, also known as FouseyTube, initially gained fame on YouTube with his channel, which he started on March 21, 2011. Apart from his online endeavors, he pursued a career in acting and even ventured into boxing between 2019 and 2022.
For now, Fousey’s return to streaming has been met with a warm reception from his fans, who are glad to see him back after months of recovery and absence from the online world.
Kick has gained recognition within the streaming community for its lucrative 95/5 subscription split, permissive Terms of Service policies, and its acceptance of gambling-related content.
The platform has managed to lure in influential Twitch streamers by offering them appealing contracts. In June, both xQc and Amouranth, leading male and female streamers on Twitch, made the switch to Kick.
Of particular note was xQc’s contract, which generated significant media buzz. He secured a non-exclusive deal lasting two years and valued at $100m.
Recently, Nick “NICKMERCS” Kolcheff also joined the ranks of Kick streamers with a $10m non-exclusive deal.
